Mode Analysis System ME'scopeVES
Predicting the fatigue life of structures
To suppress the vibrations of structures and predict their fatigue life, it is important to understand the state of vibrations, such as natural frequencies and vibration modes. Until now, numerical analysis methods like the finite element method have been used to predict the state of vibrations. Mode analysis is used as a means to validate the predictions made by the finite element method. Mode analysis involves striking the target structure with a hammer and measuring and recording its vibrational response using a piezoelectric accelerometer, which is then analyzed using a mode analysis system. The recorded time data is converted into frequency data, known as the transfer function, using an FFT analyzer, and the mode analysis software calculates the eigenvalues (natural frequencies, natural damping ratios, and eigenvectors) through curve fitting, allowing for the visualization of behaviors at each frequency through animation.
